Coach Diamond has been the head coach of the North Meck Vikings'
lacrosse team since 1998. Under his leadership the team has earned
a 46-12 record since 2000 and won the CHSCLC (Charlotte area High
School Club Lacrosse Conference) Championship in 2002 and 2003.
The Vikings also won the 2004 regular season title. A native of
Syracuse NY, Coach Diamond played lacrosse for NCAA Division III
Nazareth College in Rochester. He has worked tirelessly to develop
high school lacrosse in the northern Mecklenburg County area and was
named conference Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2004. An active
lacrosse player himself, Diamond currently plays in the Charlotte
Lacrosse Club Adult League. He is employed by the Dynamix Group,
an IBM business partner.
Assistant
Coach Scott Schenzer
I grew
up in Newtown Connecticut and graduated high school in 1993 where
I played varsity lacrosse for 4 years. I then graduated from
Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College) in 1997
continuing to play lacrosse all four years. I relocated to
Charlotte upon graduation and currently live uptown. I play
lacrosse on the Charlotte Lacrosse Club which is a post collegiate
men's team.
This is
my 5th year as the assistant coach of the Vikings and I am looking
forward to fulltime coaching duties this year after being
sidelined in 2006 from surgery. I started Newtown Mortgage
Corporation in 2002 which is headquartered in Huntersville.
It also has two other offices in Newtown Connecticut and Tampa
Florida. Other than lacrosse I also enjoy golf and the
beach.
Assistant Coach Tim
Murphy
Lacrosse has been a part
of the Murphy household for as long as I can remember. All of my
siblings have played and coached at some point in their lives so I
figured it was time for me to give back to the game as well.
In fact, my father transitioned from his college career at Boston
College to coaching my high school team (Magruder HS) in Rockville MD.
After finishing high
school in 1998, I started by college career at Div. III Widner
University. I transferred to Div. II Catawba College where I
graduated in 2002. Recently I have had the pleasure of playing
with other area coaches with the Charlotte Lacrosse Club, which is
what brought me to become a member of the Vikings family.
Assistant
Coach Greg Watterson
Greg started playing lacrosse in 10th grade for the national
powerhouse Hicksville HS on Long Island, New York. He
played college lacrosse for D II Wingate University, including a trip
to the D II Final Four in 2001. Greg was a two time
All-Conference player as well as a team captain. After
graduation, Greg served as Defensive coach for the Wingate Bulldogs.
During his tenure at Wingate, the Bulldogs produced 8 All-Conference
and 1 D II All-American. The Bulldog defense was national ranked
for goals/game and man-down defense. Coach Watterson also served
as Head Coach at the Weddington Middle School. When he is not
trying to whip the Viking defense into shape, Greg can be found
playing for the Charlotte Lacrosse Club as well as in several local
ice hockey teams.
